RASTRICK LOCAL HISTORY GROUP
ABOUT THE RASTRICK LOCAL HISTORY GROUP
RALHG as the group are known, is a small band of local people who have an interest all aspects of Rastrick history.
The group meet at 5.00pm on the second Tuesday of each month at Rastrick Library, Crowtrees Lane, Rastrick. New members are always welcome to discuss local history topics.
Unlike many other historical societies, RALHG doesn’t have guest speakers each month. The main focus is to discuss private research that is being carried out by members which often includes a 20 minutes presentation on their work. Much of the completed material is displayed in the entrance to the library for visitors to see.
The group occasionally receive requests for help from researchers in other areas regarding local subjects and assistance is given whenever possible.
Amongst the many historical articles that are held in the library by both Calderdale MBC Library Services and RALHG is an 1824 map of Rastrick which names many of the ancient fields and shows the old roads and buildings. There are many local history books in the research library section including all the minute books from Brighouse Town Council (1893-1974), which of course covers Rastrick.
AN UPDATED LIST WILL APPEAR SOON
THIS IS A NEW IDEA TO LINK THE GROUP WITH ANDY’S OWN PERSONAL WEBSITE AND NEW MATERIAL FROM THE GROUP WILL BE ADDED SHORTLY TOGETHER WITH AN INVENTORY OF ITEMS HELD AT THE LIBRARY, THAT OTHER LOCAL RESEARCHERS MAY WISH TO COME AND SEE FOR THEMSELVES
