www.halifaxpeople.com is a hub of information that consists of everything that Halifax has to offer as well as an insight into it’s history. A mine of information presented by Gary Beaumont.
A detailed history of St. Matthew’s Church, Rastrick. Superbly researched by Richard Kay and a ‘must read’ if you have any interest in the township.
The Friends of St. Matthew’s Churchyard, Lightcliffe, was set up in 2012 to sympathetically restore, conserve and maintain, for the public benefit, St. Matthew’s Churchyard, Lightcliffe. We ensure the churchyard is cared for in a way which makes it:
A place in keeping with the function of burials, with an atmosphere of respect and commemoration for the departed;
A pleasant, attractive place for all visitors;
A haven for wildlife;
A place that values and protects the local heritage.
A Brighouse Local Heritage site by my friend and old work colleague, Chris Helme. Known to many through his former ‘looking back’ articles in the Brighouse Echo, his presentations to local groups and of course, his many excellent books about local history.
Huddersfield Local History Society is a membership organisation for anybody and everybody interested in the history of the town. Our established activities include monthly talks from September to May; a summer outing; an autumn seminar; an annual journal, free to members; and a series of publications. We are keen to recruit new members and to develop opportunities for members to share their interests in local history and work together to find out more about our fascinating town.
